Days between dates calculator

Pick two dates to see how many days lie between them, in weeks and in years, months and days, and how many are weekdays. Or start from one date and add or subtract a number of days.

Gregorian calendar arithmetic, tested against hand-worked examples. Checked October 29, 2026 (sources). Free, no sign-up, nothing you type is stored.

Loading today’s date…

Pick a start and an end date. The count updates as you type.

The start date is not counted and the end date is, the way a countdown works: today to tomorrow is 1 day.

How the days are counted

The calculator turns each date into a day number and subtracts. Time of day and time zones do not enter into it, so daylight-saving changes cannot shift the answer by a day.

Months are calendar months

The “years, months, days” line counts whole calendar months first and then the days left over. A month is complete when the same day number comes round again: March 15 to April 15 is one month. When the later month is shorter (January 31 → February 28), that month is not complete yet.

Weekdays

The weekday count takes out Saturdays and Sundays only. Public holidays differ by country and are not removed here; the business days calculator can remove U.S. federal holidays.

FAQ

By default it counts the end date but not the start date, the way a countdown works: from today to tomorrow is 1 day.

Tick “Count both the start and end date” when every calendar day in the range should count, for example days of a trip or a hospital stay. That adds 1 to the result.

364 days if you count the way a countdown does, 365 days if both dates count (2026 is not a leap year).

4 days between them, or 5 days if you count both Monday and Friday, which is how a work week of 5 days is usually counted.

A month counts only once the same day number is reached in a later month. February has no 31st, so the month is not complete yet.

The calculator shows 28 days for 2026. The total of 28 days is exact either way; months are only a way of reading it.

Pick “Add / subtract days”, keep today as the start date and enter 90. For example, 90 days after October 29, 2026 is Wednesday, January 27, 2027.

Calendar days include weekends and holidays. For a deadline in working days, use the business days calculator instead.

Your own. The page reads today’s date from your device, so it is right wherever you are. Nothing is sent to our server.

Yes. Dates are counted on the Gregorian calendar, so February 29 exists in leap years (2024, 2028) and not in others (2026, 2100).

Years from 1900 to 2199 are supported.
